Square settings
MENU ▸ Settings ▸ Advanced, then scroll to Square. You can also get here from the alert Square puts up when it refuses a request — it offers a Settings button that opens this screen directly, which is usually what you want, because the cause is nearly always one of the settings below.

- Tender types — the payment methods your Square account actually accepts. Getting this wrong is the single most common cause of Square errors, so it has a page of its own .
- Additional fields to send — how much of the fare’s detail travels with the payment into Square’s receipt note. See fields to send .
- Clear default fees — YES stops Square applying its own default fees, such as taxes, to the payment. Use it if you already account for tax on the Taximeter side; see sales tax .
- Auto return — YES and Square returns you to Taximeter by itself once the receipt screen times out. NO and the driver taps New Sale in Square to come back.
- Include tax — only appears when tax handling is set to Add on top in receipt. YES sends Square the amount including tax; NO sends the amount before tax, so Square adds its own and does not tax an already-taxed total twice.
- Location ID — the Square-issued ID of the business location. Leave it empty if in doubt. It is not the location’s name or nickname: it is the ID in the browser address bar when you edit the location on Square’s site .
On Android
