Advanced settings

Advanced settings is where the app stops being generic and starts being yours: your company on the receipt, your wording for a tip, your tax rules, your printer. Nothing here is needed to run a meter — the user manual gets you driving without any of it — but most drivers set a few of these once and never look again.

Open it from MENU > Settings > Advanced, or by tapping the blue Company button on any receipt .

The screen is long. It is shown here section by section.

Company

• Cab/Company — the block that prints in the company field of every receipt and quote. It takes several lines, so your firm, phone number and licence number can all go in.
• Logo — a PNG with transparency or a JPG, printed at the top of the receipt. A wide, short image works best: the receipt is a narrow column, and a tall logo pushes the fare down the page.

Address

• Autofill pickup and destination address — on by default. The app finds the trip’s start and end addresses over the internet and shows them on the receipt and in the trips log . It needs an internet connection; without one, or with the setting off, you type the addresses in on the receipt itself.

Receipt

• Receipt header — the line at the very top, in place of the app’s default.
• Text note on a receipt — the text every new receipt starts with. The driver can still edit or delete it on the receipt itself. Useful for a standing message: a website, a complaints number, a thank-you.
• Receipt footer — a line at the bottom that cannot be changed on the receipt. Use it for anything that has to appear on every receipt without exception. The app’s own default is RECEIVED WITH THANKS.
• Receipt numbering — a prefix of your own, zero padding, and, if your paperwork requires it, the next number in the sequence. The screen shows a sample as you type. Leave the sequence at zero and the app numbers receipts itself.

Receipt and quote

These four apply to receipts and quotes alike.

• Tip field name and Discount field name — what to call the adjustment when you round a total up or down. “Gratuity”, “Service”, “Rebate” — whatever suits your business. More in adjusting the trip total .
• Note field name — what the note button is called.
• Show trip start/end dates in receipt — off by default. On, and the start and end fields carry dates as well as addresses.

Quote

The same three text settings as for receipts, but for quotes : Quote header, Text note on a quote, and Quote footer — non-editable text at the bottom.

Tax

• Fare tax — the tax applied to the distance and time fare. Only set this if you have to show sales tax on receipts; working with sales tax covers it properly.
• Tax on tips — No tax, Same as fare, or Other if tips carry a rate of their own. In many places tips are not taxed at all, which is the default.
• Tax handling — Include into price, or Add on top in receipt. Adding on top is what the US and Canada expect; including it is the norm across most of Europe.

Fare

• Handling min mileage time charge — when a fare includes a minimum distance, this decides what happens to waiting time run up before that distance is covered. There is no single right answer, which is why it is a setting: the options are explained here . It follows the fare you have selected.
• Show leading zeroes in total fare — display the total as 0003.4 rather than 3.4. Some meters are required to look like this.

Payments

• Currency — shown for information. On iPhone and iPad the currency comes from the device’s own region, at Settings > General > Language & Region > Region, so the app does not ask you to pick one.
• Square — connects the app to the Square Point of Sale app for card payments.

Colours

• Taxi fare digits colour and Button colours — for readability in bright sunlight, or for colour vision deficiency. Both are on this screen because drivers asked for them.

Printer

The row shows the printer you have configured, or Not configured. Tapping it opens printer setup: discover a printer, run a test print, set the print darkness, or forget the printer. Printing walks through it.

Restrictions

An admin password, so that deleting a trip needs more than a swipe. See trip deletion protection .

Manage app settings

Save your settings — fares, extras, taxes, texts — to a file you can share and restore. Handy when you change phone, or when a company sets several drivers up the same way.

On Android

Almost all of this is the same, in a different order. The differences that matter:

• Currency is editable on Android. You choose the symbol, whether it goes before or after the amount, and whether there is a space. On iPhone and iPad it follows the device region instead.
• Quote settings live on their own screen, opened from a row, rather than inline.
• Colours, Square, backup and “show leading zeroes” are not on Android — the accent colour is fixed there.
