Taximeter privacy policy.
This policy details the information on how information can be collected or used by the Taximeter app.
Data Processing and Privacy.
Location
Taximeter 55 uses precise location data to calculate fares based on distance traveled.
Taximeter processes location and trip data locally on your device only to calculate fares. No location data, trip information, or personal data ever leaves your device or is transmitted to our servers.
On Android: This requires the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission. We declare this usage in Google Play’s Data Safety form as ‘Location data collected and used for app functionality only, not shared with third parties.’
On iOS devices, iPhones and cellular iPads: This requires access to “When In Use” location permission.
Location data may be accessed in the background ONLY during active rides to ensure accurate fare tracking. This is processed locally and not transmitted. Background location access is used exclusively to measure distance and time during active rides. The app does not access your location in the background when no ride is running.
All fare calculations and trip tracking happen entirely on your device. All location data is processed locally on your device and is not sent to our servers or shared with third parties.
No location data is uploaded, shared, or transmitted to us or to any third party.
The app is not using or integrates any Analytics, Ads or Crash SDKs. Someone may say this is a shame, but your privacy is totally paramount to us.
Bluetooth
Taximeter 55 uses Bluetooth to connect to external devices for payment processing (via SumUp integration) and receipt printing.
On Android: This requires BLUETOOTH_SCAN and BLUETOOTH_CONNECT permissions (Android 12+) or BLUETOOTH and BLUETOOTH_ADMIN permissions (Android 11 and below).
Currently on Android, Bluetooth is used exclusively for:
- Receipt Printing: Connecting to Bluetooth receipt printers (Star Micronics SM-S230i and compatible models) for printing customer receipts
On iOS devices, iPhones and cellular iPads: This requires Bluetooth permission (NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription and NSBluetoothPeripheralUsageDescription).
On iOS, Bluetooth is used for:
- Payment Processing: Connecting to SumUp card payment terminals for processing card payments, strictly via integrated SumUp solution/SDK.
- Receipt Printing: Connecting to Bluetooth receipt printers (Star Micronics SM-S230i and compatible models) for printing customer receipts
All Bluetooth communication occurs directly between your device and the peripheral device (printer or payment terminal). No Bluetooth data, device information, or connection details are transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. Bluetooth device identifiers (device name, MAC address) are only used locally on your device for connection purposes.
The app does not use Bluetooth for any tracking, analytics, or data collection purposes.
Personal data
Taximeter 55 does not collect or store personal data, such as location, personal info, or payment details, on our servers. All data used for fare calculations remains on your device.
Payments
Taximeter 55 uses Google Play Billing SDK for in-app purchases (e.g., premium features or subscriptions). Payment information, such as credit card details, is processed securely by Google and not stored or accessed by us. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details on their data handling.
Third-Party SDKs
On iOS devices, iPhones and cellular iPads: SumUp Payment SDK is used and data processing is governed by SumUp privacy policy: https://www.sumup.com/en-gb/privacy/
On Android: No third party SDKs are used at the moment. We will be adding SumUp SDK integration in the future and it will be governed by SumUp privacy policy: https://www.sumup.com/en-gb/privacy
The app is not using or integrates any Analytics, Ads or Crash SDKs. Someone may say this is a shame, but your privacy is totally paramount to us.
If you send us information
We collect information that you choose to send us by emailing us via support emails. This includes your email address, name and other information that you provide. This information never leaves our email box. We use Google mail and Google authentication services.
Updates
This policy might be updated from time to time. But our commitment to stay away from any analytics and 3rd party components that might put your location and tracking data at risk is absolutely paramount. Given this, we will always be happy if you drop us a few lines on how do you use the app!
