Version 3.1. What’s new?

Optimized and tested for iOS 15

iOS 15 also brought us all better handling of a GPS signal (in my experience) and light of speed apps start. Thank you, Apple engineers!

This version is compiled under iOS 15 SDK to bring you all the performance optimizations available in the latest iOS. Apple has changed several UI conventions and work was needed to ensure that the app still looks as it used to.

Also on iPads, RE-CENTER button is now wider to compensate for the iPadOS 15 “…” multitasking button appearing on top of every window and interfering a little with this top-center button.

Work on a MENU.

Main reason for changes here was to see and understand more from a single glance on a menu before taking some action. Trying to play as a better restaurant here! :)

This includes:

Re-worked NEW TRACK button.

“NEW TRACK” button newly shows:

  • Under which trip/category the new track will be created.

  • Overview of settings for the track recording.

  • Settings button to open track settings screen:

GPS Beacon, voice coach and activity type settings can be changed at any time. Changes like track optimization are not possible while the track is being recorded.

TRIPS button newly shows the current/active trip.

POINT COLLECTIONS button shows the default collection name.

Changes to trip/track workflow

You can now switch between trips while track recording is active.

If you switch to a different trip, the app will ask if you want to stop the current track and start a new one under the new trip or just cancel the switching and continue with the current track recording.

This should help some power trackers.

Reworked Trip editor screen.

New screen also adds ability to enter note for the trip and adds help descriptions for the counters section.

Google map updated to the latest version.

Which is version 5.1.0. Google promises more stability and more polished map layout in this newer version.

Changes to the app documentation.

  • All of the documentation is moved to the own server.
    • That’s 8 years of work migrated from Google sites to own “static” documentation web-site. Feel of liberation is fascinating, but still have to work on making full-text search better and may be some other tiny things.

Fixes and improvements.

  • Fixed the occasional crash when a new trip was created (via + button) in the trips list while picking the target trip to move the existing track into. (Rare thing).
  • Removed the needless progress indicator appearing in the track view screen on track load. Should save a second while reviewing tracks.
  • Fixed camera tool selfie having a bit higher resolution than expected in the Low quality mode.
  • Improved reliability and speed of switching between different camera types in the camera tool.
