Speedometer 55 lets you configure Google Maps with different map types and styles to match your driving conditions.

You can pick map type here from Street, Satellite, Hybrid (Satellite with street names overlay) and Terrain map:

When using Street map type, you can also pick from 3 map styles:

• Standard - default colors for streets and background.
• Night - dark colors to avoid the app blinding you at night.
• Local roads - highlights smaller roads - paths and local roads.

One extra option is to automatically apply night style for the street map when evening/night comes. The app knows when to switch based on a sunrise/sunset for your current location.
