Optimized for iOS 14 (Free + PRO).

Version 2.2 is compiled under iOS 14 SDK and thus gains speed and optimizations available on iOS 14. One optimization that made me especially happy is Apple map drawing performance. iOS 13 introduced a major slow down for this and now the map performance is back with iOS 14. Good job from Apple map engineers!

Compiling and running under iOS 14 also needed a few UI tweaks to keep everything compatible across iOS 9 to 14.

What about new iOS 14 location privacy feature: approximate location accuracy?

The app does require access to the precise location to function properly. If you limit the app to have access to the approximate location only, the app will let you know that it can’t work under such conditions. When you limit the app access to the approximate location only, the app can count with 1 location update per about 5 minutes with accuracy of about 3 miles (5 kilometers). This is not something that can be used to show a direction to a target or speed.

One functional change for the Apple map is using a custom blue-circle map pointer for iOS 14 instead of Apple’s default map pointer. This makes the approach equal to Google and Apple maps. Main justification behind this change is that Apple stopped showing a user location pointer as a small dot under low accuracy and this confuses me as a user. The former variant with a user location pointer and a blue accuracy circle around it was looking quite more consistent to me.

Bug fixes and optimizations (Free + PRO).
