Choose the point editor that fits the job

The point editor now has two views. Tap the navigation-bar More button, then choose Simple or Advanced directly in the expanded View section. The same menu also opens the Coordinates converter. The app remembers your view choice for the next point you open.

• Simple keeps the familiar compact editor, with Note immediately below Name. It is the default until you choose Advanced.
• Advanced adds complete, source-aware editing and photo synchronization for work where every stored value matters.
• Note remains immediately below Name in both views, so switching views does not move this everyday field.
• You can switch views while editing. The point, unsaved text, original values, and values already found during this editor session stay with you; switching views does not save or discard the point.

Choose what Done does with photo geotags

The More > Photo sync menu opens with a status line — No changes to sync, or 3 values differ with the field names beneath it. Tapping that line opens the comparison sheet so you can write to the photo without saving the point. Update photo with all point values does the same with every difference pre-selected, and Review photo metadata opens the complete Advanced PHOTO section.

Under When saving, choose one persistent behavior:

• Ask to sync on change keeps the safety question when this edit changed a value the photo also stores. This is the default.
• Ask to sync on any difference also asks when you changed nothing but the photo and the point already disagreed.
• Update photo metadata writes the differences without asking, then saves the point.
• Keep photo metadata saves the point without asking and leaves the attached photo unchanged. You can still synchronize explicitly from PHOTO.

When it asks, every differing field gets a row with the photo’s value above the point’s and a switch. A value you changed in this edit is captioned Changed and starts on; one that already differed before you opened the editor is captioned Was different and starts off.

This preference is independent of Simple and Advanced view. Switching views never changes what Done will do. Photo reads and writes run asynchronously; the editor shows progress and keeps Done unavailable until an active metadata operation finishes.

Course stays separate from image direction and is never written to a photo.

Altitude changes only when you ask

Advanced view has a dedicated Altitude section:

• Current shows the altitude stored in the point, its source, and GPS accuracy when available.
• Terrain finds the ground elevation at the current coordinates and shows it for comparison. Finding terrain elevation does not replace Current; tap Apply when you want to use it.
• Previous restores the altitude that the point had when you opened the editor.
• Photo compares the altitude embedded in the attached photo and lets you explicitly apply it to the point or sync Current back to the photo.
• Manual accepts an altitude in your current altitude unit.

Moving a point keeps its existing altitude visible and marks it as belonging to the previous location. A terrain lookup can then show the current ground elevation beside it. The app never silently substitutes one for the other.

Edit address, heading, and course completely

Advanced view also gives Address, Heading, and Course their own expandable sections.

• Address: keep Current, find an address from the point coordinates, search for a place, use the photo address, restore Previous, or enter two address lines manually. A search result does not move the point until you choose an action that says it will move it.
• Heading: compare the point’s current camera/device orientation with a fresh device measurement or the attached photo direction, restore Previous, or enter a true or magnetic heading manually.
• Course: keep travel direction separate from Heading. Use a recent GPS course, explicitly convert the current heading to course, restore Previous, or enter it manually.

Each section shows where the applied value came from. Finding, measuring, or reading a photo creates a candidate first; Apply, Restore, Clear, or another clearly named action is what changes the point.

Synchronize one photo field at a time

In Advanced view, IMAGE becomes an expandable PHOTO section. It keeps the existing camera, library, preview, and attachment controls, then adds separate rows for:

1. Altitude
2. Coordinates
3. Heading
4. Address
5. Note
6. Title

Each row compares the attached photo with the current point and offers the direction that makes sense: Apply from photo, Sync current to photo, or both. A progress indicator remains in that row while the full-resolution image metadata is read or written. Updating one field preserves the other photo metadata and does not recompress the image.

Clearing a title, note, address or altitude on the point offers that field as Remove from photo, switched off in every mode — only your own switch takes a value out of the image. The automatic Update photo metadata setting never removes anything, and neither does Sync all to photo.

Viewfinder controls: gestures, focus lock, black screen, video light, and lenses

The camera screen gains a set of optional controls for driving and inspections, all off by default — except the AF button, which is always on the viewfinder. Assign the Single tap, Double tap and Long press gestures to focus, the shutter, a focus lock or a black screen. The AF button locks focus with a tap and opens the focus options with a hold, on every lens that can lock; Focus lock at start can restore your last lock or lock at infinity every time the camera opens. A black screen keeps recording with the display dark. In video mode the flash button becomes a video light switch with its own brightness. The lens strip now has a lens selector — AUTO, or a single lens by focal length — and the zoom chip names the lens in use.
